This is not Seddon Park....
Had my first viewing of live cricket today - game was at Kallang - the home of Singapore cricket. I tell you what, there is nothing better than the sound of leather on willow, the oooooohs as the ball sneaks past the outside edge of the bat or the piercing sound of a ferocious LBW appeal. None of which happened while I was at the cricket today - it was Singapore vs Hong Kong, two of the superpowers of the world game.
Remember the good ol' days where you would wake up early and pack the following items to spend a whole day at the cricket:
- bat and ball to play during the lunch break
- a chair
- a full chiller bag
- a fan and a wireless radio so you can listen to the commentary
- thermos of coffee incase it got cold and a mug to drink it with
- 50 cents so you could buy a popsicle at afternoon tea time
- the brown and tan - what legends are made of
And remember the uninitiated who give it the "who's winning?" after the first 10 overs.
